Lessons learned in 2025

Last year asked more of me than business skills. It asked for self-awareness, restraint, and a different kind of strength.

Building a company has a way of revealing how you relate to pressure, uncertainty, and yourself.

These are the 3 lessons that shaped me the most along the way:

1️⃣Progress requires unlearning

Earlier in my career, growth meant accumulation of skills, frameworks, ambition, identities.

This year, progress looked different:

• Letting go of roles that no longer fit
• Exiting projects that made sense on paper but not in practice
• Prioritizing alignment over external validation

2️⃣Simplicity is a form of care

From government offices to gym contracts, I noticed how rare it is that someone actually makes life simpler on purpose.

I paid extra sometimes just to avoid a broken process.

What I was really buying was peace of mind.
In product and in life:

• Fewer steps
• Fewer forms
• Fewer “follow up again next week” loops

3️⃣Kind honesty beats “nice” avoidance

I saw again and again how much damage unclear communication creates:

👉slow updates
👉no closure
👉people quietly disappearing when things fail.

And this reminded of something Emma Watson said recently.

𝘏𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘳𝘶𝘦𝘭𝘵𝘺. 

𝘒𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘱𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯.

The real work is saying the uncomfortable thing clearly and warmly:
To your team, to your investors, and to yourself.
