It’s okay if the first version is not perfect

After a 1.5-year creative break I came back to finishing my first book draft.

And I had to remind myself:

It’s okay if the first version is not perfect. 

Just put it there and improve later.

‍

I had lots of things to say.

Many ideas.

‍

To cope with that, I broke it down.

And I set a clear structure.

‍

I decided to include max 2-3 ideas per chapter. 

‍

If there were more than three ideas per chapter, I would break them down into separate chapters.

‍

This helped in two ways:

‍

1. I made better progress

2. It was easier to read by people

‍

I did it. And I shipped my first draft.

And I gifted it to Sir. Richard Branson.

‍

My takeaway here:

My first draft was my MVP. 

Finished was better than perfect. 

‍

There is always time to improve later. For now my best work was starting to have the chance to see the light of day.
