Don’t fall into the “Yet” trap
What if my startup hasn't succeeded... yet?
Should I wait or face the reality?
There is always “what if”, “not yet”.
But does it make sense to be persistent? It’s a difficult question to answer and an eternal dilemma among entrepreneurs.
Believing in the power of “yet” is both our strength and our potential downfall.
Here's what I've learned:
First.
Just because you haven't found a market doesn't mean it doesn't exist. But it also doesn't guarantee that it does.
Second.
Be brutally honest with yourself. Don’t sugarcoat the problems because you’ll end up with a bitter taste afterwards.
Third.
I used to believe in running endless experiments, but going from wrong to wrong doesn't necessarily lead to right.
Don’t put all of your faith in the future, instead focus on the work which you are doing now.
Sometimes I felt like if I can go long enough with experiments, luck will find me eventually. Instead I should have committed to a system and tweaked here and there until I get results.
Have you faced this dilemma?
How did you decide between persisting and pivoting?
