We see athletes celebrate victories and break down after losses.

What about us?

As founders, we’re conditioned to disconnect from our emotions which in the long run is never the healthy option. Why?

Here are 5 reasons why I think founders aren’t more open about their emotions:

1️. We’re taught to function outwardly, not inwardly

2. Being vulnerable means taking time to process

3. Short-term it’s easier to bury emotions than to deal with them

4. We fear that showing emotions makes us seem weak

5️. We don’t want to make others uncomfortable

In business we deal with intense emotions as much as in any other industry, but we rarely talk about them. If athletes can show their highs and lows, why can’t we?

Because of confusion, people don’t differentiate between emotions, and emotional behavior.

Have you ever stopped to think about this difference? What do you think is holding us back from being more open about our emotional state?
