It’s not always about funding.
Sometimes, it’s about a fresh perspective.

11 years ago, I ran into David Johnston.

at the Austin Tech Ranch.

We had crossed paths before.
But this time, something was different.

He explained to me that Bitcoin solved the Byzantine Generals' Problem. A game

theory problem is used to illustrate how hard it is to reach a consensus without an intermediary.

I was captivated.

We had a 30-minute conversation.

On a doorstep.

That introduced me to a concept that would change my perspective.

It changed how I viewed distributed systems.

It changed how I viewed the future.

I connected the dots.

Email disrupted snail mail.

Social media is overtaking newspapers.
Streaming platforms took over traditional media.

Why couldn’t money be as digital and agile as everything else? Younger generations already trusted tech more than banks.

FinTech was on the rise.
And I wanted to get involved.

What about you? What new technology made you see the world differently?
