Pepsi. vs Cola. You know the debate.

Data shows that most people prefer Cola.

But in a blind test, Pepsi beats Cola.

So, today’s question is not about soda.

It’s about your customers.

Here's what I’ve learned:

Customers don’t always know what they want.

A small sample isn’t the full experience.

Just because someone likes one aspect of your product doesn’t mean they’ll buy it.

The next time you’re developing a product, don’t just ask your customers what they want. Ask yourself: What do they really need? What are they really doing?

Does their behavior match their words?

Then through talking to customers understand if your hypothesis is right or wrong.
